We can help you fix your existing wireless network or we can help you securely setup and configure a wireless network for the first time.
If you wireless network does not connect properly, here are some settings you can check:
-
Do you have the wireless switch on your laptop turned to the ON position?
-
Do all wireless cards and NICS have the correct driver installed?
-
Is your router's SSID visible?
-
Are the "wireless standards" of your router and wireless card compatible? For example, a 802.11b/g router may allow you to set it as g-only, 802.11b mode will be disabled. If you try to connect with a 802.11b card, it will be invisible to the router.
-
What is signal strength like? Wireless routers reach only so far. The more objects the signal has to travel through the more attenuated the signal gets.
-
Has MAC address filtering been turned on in your router? If it has been turned on, try disabling it for troubleshooting purposes.
-
Is your router connected to your modem using the correct port?
-
Are you using the right security key (such as WPA or WEP) and have checked that you have typed it in correctly into your wireless configuration management utility?
-
Is your firewall set to allow WLAN connections?
-
Is your browser set to automatically detect settings or is it set to access the net via a proxy server?
