Computer Security/ Anti-Virus Solutions

Enjoy the peace of mind of well Protected Computers and a Secure Network

Viruses, Malware, Trojans, Spam and Rootkits are the bane of computer users worldwide.

They cause system slowdowns, blue screens, anomalous error messages and, in worst cases scenarios, data loss.

While no computer system in your average office environment will ever be one hundred per cent immune from threats, we strive to make your systems as bullet-proof as possible.

At Swisstech, we believe prevention is better than cure. A user who can spot a suspicious email which arrives in their inbox or who knows how to properly follow warnings given by security software about possible threats will have a better protected system than a user who is less savvy about such issues. Therefore, our technicians try to educate users on best practices to follow.

Having proper security software in place can detect and remove threats before they harm your computers or data.

What makes a good anti-virus solution?

  • Excellent detection rates of known and "in-the-wild" threats.
  • Frequent updates of definition files.
  • Efficient use of the CPU, without slowing the whole system down.
  • Excellent clean-up abilities, if your system does get infected.
  • Robust - like any other software, anti-virus software should be well written and have excellent compatibility with other applications and your operating system. In other words, it should not cause your system to crash (like so many so-called "market leading" Anti-Virus applications can).

Anti-Spam Solutions

Anti-Spam Solutions

Robust solutions to filtering out the junk that can clog up your Inbox.

Email has become the backbone of all digital communication. While email is convenient and quick, these attributes can be easily overshadowed when users start to receive an avalanche of spam.

Spam or junk email clogging your inbox can be a major nuisance. Wading through "junk" emails in order to process and respond to "genuine" messages wastes time and frustrates users.

Spamhaus, a worldwide spam monitoring agency estimates that 90 per cent of all incoming email in Europe and North America is spam.

A common question we get asked is how did they get my email address? The main two ways a spammer generates email addresses is email harvesting and a technique known as dictionary spamming.

Email Harvesting - Automated software known as spambots scour the internet for publicly available email addresses. For example, if your email address is posted on a website, blog or message forum,it can then be picked up and stored by spambots. In turn, these collected addresses are used in mass email marketing campaigns.

Dictionary Spammer - This is where the spammer uses special software to "guess" every possible name in a given domain. For example, the spammer might start sending email to ann@eircom.net and continue to zebra@eircom.net. More sophisticated spammers make sure to include all given names (e.g. last and first name combinations). For example, annmurphy@eircom.net, alisonmurphy@eircom.net and so forth.

There are several methods that can be employed to reduce the number of spam messages that you actually see. These include using your ISP's spam filter, using hosted email, using a specific anti-spam program, using a spam firewall (hardware device) or setting anti-spam rules in your email client. Each solution will be determined by the extent of your problem, your current email configuration and your budget.
