The owner of a commercial premises in Dublin's city centre contacted us. He owned an office with a warehouse attached and described himself as "cursed" the amount of times every year his alarm system went off in the middle of the night. Getting up in his dressing gown to drive into his office in town to check for possible intruders was becoming a sleep-depriving nuisance for him. Could we come up with a better alternative? We decided to install two small IP cameras with integrated infrared lights on his premises. This IP camera was then connected to his office broadband router.
He could then simply type the IP address of the camera into his Firefox browser at home and get a full view of his small warehouse, even at four o'clock in the morning. "Going into my home-office to turn on my laptop is much easier than driving all the way into town" he told us. The solution was practical, time saving, petrol saving and of course sleep-saving!
