I need data recovered

The owner of a Dublin security company contacted us. He had a Windows XP computer with all the company's master passwords and electronic alarm and access codes for all the sites they looked after around Dublin on it. The system a Compaq Presario Desktop had recently experienced critical hard drive failure.

He brought the drive to his existing I.T support company and they told him the data was irretrievable. He was devastated. Retrieving these codes would take a long time, in some cases it would mean resetting some of his client's electronic entry systems, which would be time consuming and costly. We examined the drive. The drive heads had failed. The drive was well over 5 years old and we needed this exact part for the drive. Unfortunately, hard drive manufactures do not keep a back-inventory of hard drive parts.

We left no stone unturned in searching for this exact part that we needed to get the drive operational again. We contacted suppliers in Ireland, the UK, continental Europe and the US. Eventually, we received back an email back from a supplier in Cologne, Germany. They had the part in stock. They shipped it to us. After hours of intricate work, the replacement drive heads were installed and drive carefully reassembled. We sealed the device's casing, powered the drive up and heard the drive gracefully come back to life.

The drive was instantly recognised on our data recovery workstation. All his folders appeared, along with all of his 187 access codes and passwords - data he thought we would never see again.
